In order to accommodate my daughter's visit to the ex-inlaws for Thanksgiving, I'm looking for somewhere for the two of us to have a pre-T-Day dinner on Wednesday--something nice, but not too sophisticated (she's 10 years old.) I almost settled on Patty's Diner until I noticed that their highly-touted Wednesday Turkey Special would *not* be available on that Wednesday!

So, anyone have recommendations for a place that would have a "Day-Before Turkey Dinner (or Lunch)?"

    Thanks!

It might be worth a phone call to Manny's. They sometimes feature turkey dinners. I don't know if they will on the day before Thanksgiving, but you never know. Also, any Greek coffee shop will likely have turkey on the menu. Will it be as good as home made...definately not, but in a pinch....

I haven't set foot in an Ann Sathers for years. However, I do remember thinking that the turkey stood out as one of the better dishes.

Yes. I knew there was somewhere I was forgetting. By all means. Ann Sathers serves real roasted turkey with the trimmings all the time. Like JeffB, I'd say that this is one of the real standout dishes at Ann Sathers.

You know I was at Ann S the other day, first time in a while, and you know, perhaps this is the kinda place that is best with infrequent visits, but gosh it was very enjoyable.

I had the meatballs, which actually were a bit too tough, but what the hey, after salad with house made garlic-dill dressing, pickled beets, nicely greasy spatzle and buttered noodles, it was AG. Of course before the salad there was a plate with (very) fresh white bread, cinammon roll and muffin. I took the brownie to go.

I was there with the younger daughter. She had eggs scrambled with cheese, hash browns and bacon, and everything just tasted a notch or two better than it should for diner food.

Yes, it's slightly above the price point of a typical diner but not by that much. I was glad I went.

Thanks, guys--I knew I could rely on my friends for at least good, if not great, ideas...and this is simply great!

Sathers seems like just the right spot, especially with a girl who would happily trade seven-eighths of her usual dinner for extra helpings of those goopy cinnamon rolls. (She comes by it honestly--she gets her sweet tooth from me. :) )

    Thanks again,
