My best friend goes to Lincoln elementary and right around the corner at 2271 N Lincoln is a little restaurant called red rockets where all the kids go after school to hang out and eat. I often stop by there on weekends or when I walk home from school and get a bag of fries which are amazing. Red rockets makes their fries double fried giving them a extra crunchy texture. Aside from the fries they also have a very good Italian sandwich called "the big load" which I found amazing with a side of fries. I went in there yesterday for a bite to eat when i noticed that there was a new item up on the menu called "the big muff" which is a deep fried blueberry muffin. I did not try it yet but I will next time I am in there.

I can vouch for these fries. Really outstanding. Certainly better than any I've had at many other more popular spots on the north side. I like the mini burgers too. But alas, no long lines or Zagat blurbs here.

Astro Zombie, Welcome to LTH Forum! You seem to know what you are talking about and I will be sure to try Red Rocket soon. Looking forward to seeing what you post next.

As a Lincoln School alum from the mid-80s, I can say that we took our hangouts seriously (of, course, I wasn't cool enough to be invited...) We had Ziggy's, Leon's (hey, we didn't know any better!), and MyPi on Clark and, of course, Lincoln Avenue Pizza. Good to see the kids still congregate in non-virtual space.

Today i stoped back at redrockets (afterschool on fridays) and I ordered the "big muff", a deep fried Blueberry Muffin. This muffin was one of the best things I've ever had, it had a crispy hot outside with a warm blueberry muffin inside. As soon as I got it I was swarmed by the LP highschoolers asking me for some muffin. There is another item on the menu called "Flap Jack cookie", which I do not know what it is but I will try it soon.

I'm going to have to go to the gym RIGHT NOW to work off the calories I gained just by reading that last post. Hmm, maybe if I go tomorrow, too, I'll be able to stop at Red Rockets...

When I was in HS, Danzig was in the Misfits. Oddly enough, the band had far fewer fans than now.

The misfits were never popular when they wer together really. They only got big when danzig went solo and people dug up his earlier stuff. Anyway I'm going to stop by red rockets today to get a "flapjack cookie"
