All those pictures of Katys Dumplings have me lying in bed in the morning, wondering how to justify going out there.

I have to go to lincolnwood today to look at a car -- any lunch suggestions? Any type of food, I'm not looking to hit a homemade noodles jackpot. Although that would be wonderful.

Wholly Frijoles is GREAT! Considering I'm absolutely obsessed with ceviche, I would highly recommend it there.

    GritsGal,

I know you're new to LTH (Welcome!), so allow me to translate: I presume that what Evil Ronnie is suggesting is that the original thread was somewhat critical of Wholly Frijoles (Evil, correct me if I misinterpret). I was one of those critics, but this place is highly regarded by many, so it's certainly not to be discounted.

You should do a search on ceviche here if you haven't already. I had a conch ceviche at La Cazuela that was delicious a few months back. Las Islas Maria is just a couple blocks south and their ceviche is also good, a little finer chopped but tasty as heck on saltines!

I'm a fellow ceviche lover, that's where I go when I get the urge.

If it's not too late, I'd add GNR winner Elephant Thai to the list. Although it's not in Linconlwood, it's right across the Chicago border in Edgebrook.

thanks so much for the suggestions.

We actually decided that the Toyota dealership 26 miles west of us was surely better than the one 5 miles north and warranted a drive on 290 through 35 min of traffic ... and we went to K's Dumplings on the way.

Didn't get a car, but I haven't had such good handmade noodles since I was a kid -- I loved the Schezuan spicy noodle soup, the Dan Dan was also very good but the bitterness was a bit much for me -- we had to keep switching off.

There's a Cantnonese Ja Jang Mien that I ate frequently in Hsin-ju. It didn't have a black bean base like the Korean version -- but a ground pork meat sacue that wasn't saucy -- is Ja Jang Mien on the menu here? I guess I can muster up the courage to ask her next time.

thanks again for taking the time to respond to my question -- we'll probably go to Lincolnwood tomorrow since "K's Dumplings Toyota" didn't have my car in stock. I might check out the Thai place.

** it can't be coincidence that I unintentionally used the word "saucy" in a thread that mentioned Wholly Frijoles. Am I thinking of the right episode?
