What you need is The Ice Cream List ;)

This place has gotten good reviews, and makes their own Filipino ice cream, in interesting flavors.

I will second the motion for Village Creamery in Niles. Fascinating flavors using Asian fruits not usually found around these parts, along with all the standards. High quality and reasonable prices. And they're kitty corner to Super H Mart, so after consuming a double cone a shopping spree is in order to walk off the extra calories!

Just to clarify, this is their other location (Oakton and Waukegan); the one nr706 posted about is a bit closer to Evanston. They're equally good, as far as I can tell.

Some of the flavors there are just so-so, but be sure to get the macapuno. It seems to always be fresh (not the case with some of the less popular flavors) and tastes spectacular. I generally like the ube, as well. The staff is extremely generous about letting you sample flavors before you order.

The OP also asked for gelato. In Evanston, the Italian Coffee Bar (1549 Sherman Ave.) has good gelato that's astoundingly cheap for the amount you get. There's also a second location on Church St.

In Evanston, the Italian Coffee Bar has gelato. One location is on Grove and Sherman, the other is near the movie theater across from Urban Outfitters on Church.
Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.
    T. S. Eliot: Ah, but you're not a poet.

Apologies; I was not paying attention to the address. The location I was referring to is on the northwest corner of Oakton and Waukegan in Niles. Super H is in the mall on the southeast corner.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.
