Where can I get "snails with black bean sauce" in chinatown or anywhere in chicago?

    Jjm,

I'm sure they are available at a multitude of Chinatown restaurants, but 'Little' Three Happiness serves up a very tasty version.

    Gary-
Is that pork mixed in with the snails? I've had this dish several times in other restaurants but have never seen it served that way.

    Joe,

Yes that's pork mixed in with the snails. 'Little' Three Happiness also mixes a little pork in with the Clams with black bean sauce and most other black bean preparations. If you are a non pork eater I am sure they would be happy to omit.

    Enjoy,

You can find "Stir-fried Snails" in a number of restaurants but often it depends upon a restaurant's inventory. It is sometimes offered on the "Midnight Snack" menu and sometimes it's on the Chinese language menu. Your best bet is to ask your waitstaff if the restaurant offers snails. The Cantonese version is usually offered stir-fried in black bean sauce which includes some minced or shredded pork. Check out

    China Cafe
    Mountain View
    Triple Crown

It's cool when they grind down the tail end so that you can just suck the snail right out of the shell instead of using a toothpick. A plate of these is great with a bowl of white rice and a cold beer while enjoying some television. Happy sucking !!

I have visited Triple Crown recently. Although the restaurant has been remodeled and look cosmetically much better, I feel that the dishes are not as tasty as before (such as Cantonese fried noodles - chow mein). I am just wondering have the ownership and the cook been changed as well?
