Jon Young must be having a good year.

For about a month now, there has been a sign at 2008 West Roscoe Street announcing the opening of a new wine bar called "XO" in November. Given the time typically needed for a new restaurant to get a liquor license, I was curious at the timing. Today's RVN newsletter answered my question, it is Kitsch'n's chef/owner Jon Young's foray into the world of small plates. It may not become a destination, but it will certainly be welcomed into the 'hood.

Also in today's newsletter, Kitsch'n is opening a second location in the old Montgomery Ward warehouse bulding scheduled for year end.

    MAG:

Is Kitsch'n a worthwhile destination for food? If so, for brunch or their lunch/dinner fare? Thanks!

You know, I hate to say this because Jon is a really great community member, but I personally don't think so. But I will say that this is not necessarily a reflection on the food but instead the type of menu in combination with the typical wait time, particularly at brunch. The menu, like Four Moon, is good bar food i.e. mini cheeseburgers, quesadillas with a retro twist i.e. twinkie tiramisu. I happen to like the vibe down at the Four Moon much better. That being said, I am very much looking forward to XO with hopeful anticipation.
