Going to be seeing the Police next week and would like to grab some dinner before the show. We are going to be taking Skokie Swift that is located off Dempster. Any reccomendations?
    Thanks

You are just over a mile away from Pita Inn to the east, and just under two miles from Burt's Place to the west.

    Pita Inn
    3910 Dempster St
    Skokie, IL 60076

    Burt's Place
    8541 N. Ferris Ave
    Morton Grove, IL

The CTA Swift station is also not far from Larsa's, which, like Pita Inn, features Mediterranean food.

    Larsa's
    3724 Dempster
    Skokie
    (847) 679-3663

Also, please note that the Skokie Swift is not part of the Metra system. Don't want you to end up on the wrong track!

You better check out how late the Skokie Swift runs. I think it stops around 10 or 10:30 on weekdays.

Thanks, I will check out the schedule. I can't see why they would end service early as Wrigley will be a mad house and I don't want to drive anywhere near it tht night.

The Skokie Swift (BTW it's CTA and not Metra) seems to serve commuters best and that may account for why it doesn't run late night.

Since you're driving all the way to Skokie, you might just keep going East and eat in Evanston, then take the Evanston Express..l.oops I mean Purple line into the City. Or you could park near one of the northern Red Line stops and eat along Devon.

The Swift only goes to Howard and you'd have to change trains anyway.

There is a 600 space garage at the Howard El station that costs $2/day. If you park there, you don't have to change trains. It would also open up a whole new realm of dining possibilities. Alternatively, I am sure you can get away with parking in the Gateway Plaza (Dominick's, Marshalls) parking lot next door to the station, especially on a weekend. It is well lit and patrolled. People park there all the time for ballgames, and I have never heard of anybody getting towed. The lot is never more than half full. There is a staircase that leads down to the station and bus staging area in the rotunda next to the Bally's health club.

The last NB Swift train leaves Howard at 10:20PM. It does not run on weekends.

Actually, I have heard of a number of people being towed in that lot (for some time there was a space dispute between Bally's and Dominick's) However, the CTA lot is a really nice one, and I'll second d4v3's recommendation for that.

If you want something fancy, you can always park more expensively in downtown Evanston and eat someplace like Chef's station or Quince You will have to change to a red-line train.

Just about two blocks east of the Skokie Swift station is one of the best Georgian restaurants in the area:

You might want to call first - hours can be irregular.

Of course, you could play a Police CD in your car, dine at Alinea, and skip the concert entirely! :)

Sorry, I thought that's where this was headed.

But seriously, I'd be very worried that you wouldn't make the last Skokie Swift train. This argues for parking in Evanston and taking the red line to Howard, or parking at the Howard station.

I never heard about that, it is good to know. I am sure it must have been Bally's that called the tow trucks on Dominick's customers for parking in that last row. Would that just piss you off or what, to have a cart full of groceries and no car? Most of my friends that park in that lot for games, park way over on the other side, away from Dominicks and Bally's in no-mans-land. Since the garage is only $2, it only makes sense for weekday afternoon games when the garage is full.

Thanks for all the feedback and reccomendations. The last train on the yellow line does run only until 10:20. I thought they might run later due to events at Wrigley but to no avail. so it looks like the purple line is the way to go.

The CTA is extending Yellow Line service until 12:05 a.m. for the Taste of Chicago, including the dates of the Police concert but not July 3.

Thanks for the tip on the yellow line, funny because I called at the beginning of the week and they said they had no plans to extend the hours.
