I have a couple of friends in town this weekend. We'd like to meet up for lunch on Sunday. However, I will be returning from a weekend in Lake Geneva, and will have to be back in the Barrington area after lunch. My friends will be coming from the city or Evanston, but need to get to O'hare after lunch. Are there any good restaurants that you'd recommend somewhere off of 90? I would prefer to stay as close to O'hare as possible if not slightly west. Thanks!

How about Gibson's in Rosemont? They have great lunch specials and some of my favorite french fries.

If you exit at arlington heights road and head north and a little east, Torishin is a nice, slightly worn down Japanese road house on Busse just north of Algonquin. There are also a number of other Japanese places around Arlington and Algonquin.

Then there is the famous Chutney Janet in Des Plaines. Don't have time to Google the address, but it is not too inconvenient and tasty. Look for past posts on their Goanese specialties.

The Mitsuwi Marketplace (exit Arlington Heights Rd. from I-90, head north, its at the NE corner of Algonquin and Arlington Heights) is a larje Japanese supermarket that has a great food court with several vendors. You can also get pre-made sushi in packages which is better than most pre-made sushi I've had.
The market is fun as well, and there's a Japanese dinnerware store that sells really beautiful fishes, and a Japanese bookstore there too. Definately worth a visit.
