I nearly always pay the Skyway toll when coming or going East. For one thing, with an I-Pass transponder (reminds you of one of those passed on inventions from Men in Black, no?) it seems like I'm hardly spending money. For another thing, I love the view from up there, and always try to finagle my wife to drive so I can take it in. Finally, it does save a lot of time. Of course, before getting on the Skyway, one needs to fill up. God, is gas cheaper in Indiana. And, and, one needs to eat.
Bob's Shrimp is just south of the Hammond Skyway exit. It may not be the best fried shrimp in the area, and it is not as rawly special as the not too far away Calument Fisheries, but if you choose that, you are not choosing the Skyway. It is worth the stop.
I like the prices, a pound of jumbos is a shade under $14. I like the freshness. The shrimp, lake pearch and zuchini went into the corn meal only after the order, and I like the crisp results dunked into the house hot.
