After indulging in more than my fill of crap Chicago Chinese takeout I discovered Eat First(in this particular iteration-Eat First 2--the one in the Wicker Park KMart/Jewel complex). It's no Lao Szechuan(my Chinatown favorite, but, then it couldn't be). What it is is satisfying Hot n Sour soup chock full of interesting Asian vegetable textures, a kung pao chicken with an actual resemblance to the classic dish replete with yummily, smokily charred dry red peppers(yes, I eat them), and a chewy, delicious Empress Rib(chunks of pork rib in a sweet sesame soy sauce). Of the many Chicago delivery horrors: Yu Shang, Jing Ling, ---the takeout Chinese can get so bad I've begun ordering from average Thai restaurants---so many in the area are more Chinese than Thai anyway.
Whatever, Eat First 2 always provided a quality product regardless of Chinese/American bent.
