I don't get up that far north very often but I'm going to a show tonight at the Aragon near Lawrence/Broadway. Any suggestions for good tacos near there. Looking for char-grilled steak, cilantro, onion, and lime style. The only place I know up there is that god-awful mexican restaurant on the southeast corner of Clark and Lawrence that serves mystery meat tacos. Any other suggestions would be appreciated

After leaving The Green Mill a while ago I walked past a place ( can't remember the name) around the corner on Clark & Lawerence (NW side). Not sure if this is the place you are talking about but the guy inside was carving El Pastor off the spit and looked and smelled incredible. Would have stopped but we were on our to Marie's.

You could try Garcia's out. They have a smaller, eastern Lawrence Ave. location just 3 blocks west of Clark + Lawrence, and its almost directly across the street from Bryon's Hot Dogs, in a nondescript building:

    1758 W Lawrence Ave
    Chicago, IL, 60640
    (773) 784-1212

Also, their main Lincoln Square location(and which I do know stays open until 1 or 2am each night):
    4749 N Western Ave
    Chicago, IL, 60625
    (773) 769-5600

I'm not sure I'd consider this "walking distance" from the Aragon, though. I mean, sure, most City folk could handle the distance, but it's not really that close, and a long stretch of the walk is pinned between Lawrence Ave. and the wall around St. Boniface Cemetery.
