I enjoyed the recent
latke thread but found myself thinking they were missing an important ingredient: pork!
Not long ago I visited
Smak Tak for the first time and found it impossible to resist Placek Po Wegiersku, a potato pancake folded around pork goulash.
Both the pancake and goulash were topnotch and they actually enhanced each other, not always the case with this dish. Smak Tak is clearly one of the best local Polish restaurants and I look forward to another visit.

Last week I returned to Klas, Cicero's venerable Czech dining palace, to take advantage of their lunch special. First stop was the atmospheric bar where you can hang your hat on a hoof and choose from six Czech beers on tap.
Then off to the dining room for soup, house made bread, a couple small salads, main dish with bread dumplings (plus a pitcher of gravy), sauerkraut and coffee, all for $7.95. One of the lunch choices is Tenderloin Budweis, a slab of pork encased in garlicky potato batter, an excellent idea.
