Here's a post on Chowhound that made me unexpectedly sad. I'm sure I know nothing about the circumstances here (maybe she has a house packed with relatives and just wants to get out with her daughter for some fresh air), but what is clear is that she asked for advice and she's not getting any responses (I have no ideas myself). I wondered if LTHers might want to mosey on over to the other site and contribute their 2-cents.

I wish I could help.We used to go to Old Country Buffet, Stack's and Steaks,Jack's or What's Cooking Inn for Christmas Eve or Christmas but I don't think that is what she wants.I'll ask around.

    Jim,

She does not say Eve or Day. Many places are open Christmas Eve, few on Christmas day. Here are a few Northwest side suggestions for her. Feel free to post them to Chowhound. I would stress making a reservation.

    Enjoy,

I have posted a few suggestions on the other board,

Cheesecake Factory is open on Christmas eve , and if the John Hancock Observatory is open , it would be a nice treat for kids to see all the Christmas lights before or after dinner depending if they have a weak stomach.

These are in the N.W. suburbs. Open Christmas Day

Gridley's Grille of Long Grove 12:00 to 8:00

La' Mirage in Rolling Meadows has a Christmas Grand Buffet, 3 seatings , 2 hours each 11:00, 1:30 and 4:00 $23.95

I haven't been to either of these places, so any comments would help.
