    Does anyone know of a good ice cream place in the south loop or the loop?

    Coldstone pumps so much air in the "ice cream", I'm not sure if it can actually even be called ice cream.

    The gelato at Whole Foods is okay. I second Canady...

    Not only air, but additives that make the ice cream gummy and stretchy (ideal for "mix-ins").

    Eleven City Diner has a great soda fountain. They stock Homer's ice cream in four flavors--vanilla, and three other rotating. It's also up the street from Canady.

    Fourth. Try the pistachio if available, or, as mentioned above, the mascarpone for something different and very good.
