Looking for the hottest & spiciest food in Chicago

There is a rich blend of cultures and ethnicities that makes up Chicago's diverse dining options. Every cuisine has that something that makes it's own. However, there is a thread that connects certain cuisines that makes it very enjoyable for my palate - Hot peppers and spices. From Mexican to Indian, Thai and Korean and Caribbean foods - I love them all- the hotter the better. I love to find out what your favorite place for seriously HOT and SPICY food and the name of the dish.

To get the fire started - I want to suggest my local Thai joint - Asian Mix Cafe.

Asian Mix offers primary Thai and some Chinese and vegetarian dishes - but what made them standout is that they are the hottest Thai restaurant in Chicago. Their food is so hot that even Thai people considered too spicy (according to their Thai cooks). They offer Habanero chili pepper in their dishes that just burns your mouth and lips for several minutes and then the sweating starts. According to their cooks - the Thai chili is everywhere in Thai cooking - but the habanero, which is not from Thailand is even hotter and is not a common pepper in their cooking. The people at Asian Mix had regulars from Indian and the Caribbean background dine there often and they accommodated their request for extreme spice level by offering the habanero in their cooking.

My favorite dish would have to be Beef Basil with a habanero. They can make it with ground beef (tradition style) or with sliced beef. The sweetness of the basil blends beautifully with the mighty habanero. The green curry with chicken is also a standout.

I would love to hear other favorite hot spots

    To Ideal Machine,

Thanks for the reference to other hot dining options.

By the way - Asian Mix Cafe is located at 3945 N Broadway-just South of Irving Park road- you can order from Foodler or Grub hub as well.
