I am going on a classy date to the Horseshoe Casino with a new beau and was wondering if there are any interesting restaurants in or around Hammond.

Between Wicker Park and Hammond includes all of downtown Chicago as well as many other restaurant-laden neighborhoods. In that rather broad geographic span, there are more than a few restaurants that could match or even exceed the Horseshoe's classiness. I'd suggest that just about all of the answers you got to your similarly broad question herewould apply to this one.

    One suggestion

    la petite folie
    1504 East 55th Street
    Chicago, Illinois 60615
    for reservations, please call: 773-493-1394

in Hyde Park... I have a soft spot for this place, though its been a couple years. Easy to cruise down to 90 toll road from Hyde Park. Romantic, quiet, solid food.

Here's a thread about dining in the Horseshoe. I doubt you'd do better for what you're looking for than the casino itself in Hammond.

Blu 47 is another thought; another spot and neighborhood deserving some patronage (and really, really nice staff).

Confidential to Kenny: found it. I get it now.
