I love when people email me suggestions and recomendations of places I should visit and review. Recently one of my readers suggested "Hungry?" restaurant in Rolling Meadows. Located in a strip mall, "Hungry?" doesn't look like much from the outside. But after the first bite, I realized that this place better than your average eatery in the mall. All food is made to order and is of a much higher quality than one might expect from it's location and outward appearnce.

The shining star of my visit was the Madeira chicken sandwich. The toasted baguette is topped with a beautifully charred chicken breast, mozzarella cheese, and their homemade Madeira sauce. Madeira is a fortified wine made in the Madeira Islands, Portugal. Make that into a sauce and you get a dynamite chicken sandwich. Other fine choices include the sirloin steak sandwich, gyros, and burgers. The only dissapointment was the fries. While the rest of the food was served fresh and hot, the fries were always likewarm. Otherwise this was a place I was very pleasently surpised with.

    Location
    1673 Algonquin Rd
    Rolling Meadows, IL 60068

I have been there a handful of times, but think the place is a bit generic. They have a menu that ranges from hamburgers to shepherd's pie. I think the menu is bit too eclectic for its own good. Further, the place is pretty expensive, with a sandwich, fires, and a drink typically going for over $10.

I have had the gyros, fish and chips, and buffalo chicken sandwich. All were ok, but nothing stood out. Of of my associates ordered what had to be the worst looking club sandwich I have ever seen, looking both tiny and limp. Overall, in the woodfield area, there are much better choices for the $$ at lunchtime.
