Going to Chicago Theatre tomorrow night, my husband & I want to have dinner before the concert-nothing outrageously priced just good, maybe sit outside. I'm having a brain cramp about where to try. Any suggestions? Thankx!

Petterino's at Randolph and Dearborn. The Chef even features a lemonade of the day. Last Friday's was blueberry. They do have a few seats outside. I would call now to make a reservation, if it is a big theater night it could be difficult, but there is seating at the bar. My husband is a fan of the steak salad. There is also a crab louis salad. I adore the fetzel salad and of course the strawberry tall cake with fresh whipped cream.

There is also an Intelligentsia coffee with a few seats outside. It is located at Randolph and Wabash. They have a few panini and salads on their menu in addition to the sweets and coffee, oh yeah they do have Mexican Coke, which is a plus in my world, and southport cupcakes and Ms. Fran's shortbread.

Wow Bao at Lake and Wacker, is a half-block south of the theater and pretty casual. You must love the gingerale, even if it is a tad rich.

Pastoral at Lake and Wabash. The cheese shop makes sandwiches and salads and I think it is open until 8 pm. They have a few seats outside as well.

I am going to the Steely Dan show next month. Would love to hear about the show, off-list of course.

And, as I like to point out every time this restaurant is mentioned, the best chocolate pudding in the City...made from scratch.

My choice for events in that location is Bin 36, just across the river. A flight of wine, some appetizers, one of their great cheese plates, and I'm good to go. I've never had a main dish there, but the wine program is great fun.
