    Hi all,
next Sat nite, some friends of ours are playing at Fermilab in a grouping of musicians called Wildnerness Plots.
It's a bit of a drive from Deerfield, so we'll likely have dinner out that way before the show,
but I am clueless as to what might be some nice non-chain offerings out that way.
    Any LTH-er's have some suggestions?
French Bistro, country Italian, American, Chinese,
most anything is fine except the hubs doesn't much care for most Mexican.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

I'd say your best bet is to head a couple of miles north into Geneva for dinner.... for Italian, Villa Verone is great. It's an old house turned into a restaurant, with outside seating available. The food & service has always been wonderful. Another good choice would be Foxfire... someone had posted that they had closed, which is not the case. I had the seared ahi tuna there & thoroughly enjoyed it. They also have a nice outdoor area. Mill Race Inn is a nice place right on the river that's been there forever, but we personally don't find anything special about it. I know there's some other great options in Geneva, but having not dined there, I'll let others comment on them.

Tribella in Batavia is very nice with good food, home made seasonal pastas ans great steaks but it's on the far west of Batavia and not at all easy to get to on the way to Fermi. Geneva has a number of places much easier to find and has a good selection of price range. The top two and probably among the best in all of the Western suburbs is Niche at 14 S. Third Street and Isabella's Estiatorio at 330 West State. There have been reviews of both here. I would select Wildwood at 477 S. Third Street over FoxFire, FF serves the same tired sides with everything and is just meh. Mill Race Inn, while in a nice setting, is tired as well. If you are just looking for a burger, steak or something simple but well done beforehand, Country House is right up the street from the Fermi Pine Street entrance on Kirk Road. It's at the corner of Kirk Road and Fabyan Parkway and about 5 minutes from the Lab entrance. If you have a set price range, let me know, there is more ranging from good Thai to mom and pop pizza.

Price is not a major consideration for us,
and while we're not interested in eating pizza, Italian is fine.
A great burger is OK, (hubs is a big Beinlich's fan)
but a steak or seafood would be even better...
    Thanks

Thanks irisarbor. Wildwood would be very good for you, I've included their website below. I also forgot to include Atwater's which is right on the Fox River in the Herrington Inn by the bridge in downtown Geneva. A beautiful location, the Herrington frequently hosts many international celebrities when they come to Chicago. I have a friend who dines at Atwaters's several times a week and loves it. He lives in the condos about a block north.
