    Carne Guisada tacos. They're delicious.

It's like a beef tips with gravy taco or served with rice and beans and in Texas you can find it at most Mexican restaurants. I have not been able to find them in Chicago and I'm curious if anyone knows a place that serves them here.

Perhaps someone who is reading this is traveling to Austin, TX and would like to try some. In that event, I highly recommend the El Chilito on Manor.

They have something like this at GNR-winner Nuevo Leon, sometimes as a complimentary appetizer. I'm not sure if you can order it straight from the menu (other experts will chime in, I'm sure). "Guisado" means something different at every place up here, likely because of the wide range of regions represented - always something stewy, but meat and preparations vary. I'd say I run into stewed picadillo or off-cut beef more than anything else.

Meat stews of various sorts can be found at Maxwell Street Market as well as at various hispanic grocery stores, including:

Guisados- made with a variety of Meats ( Beef & Pork, generally)- ae always in the steam table at Carnicerias Jimenez.
    ( a Mexican Supermarket/Meat Store/ Taqueria/Pinata Vendor, etc. )
They (the little cafe tucked in the Western End of the Store) usually have a Puerco Guisado, stewed in a spicy Chile de Arbol sauce- that not only is spicy and tasty- but is a Clothing Coloring Agent- used to spot those snacking vociferously @ The Taqueria.
