    LTH,

Taqueria Morelia, second of hopefully many posts by LTHers about Taquerias in the Lawrence/Montrose area, is a fine little taqueria, clean, friendly, efficient service and pretty darn good taqueria food, starting with complimentary chips and salsa.

I ordered two tacos, lengua (tongue)/chorizo and an al pastor sope. The lengua was fine, though missing a certain element of melt-in-your-mouth deep rich flavor the very best examples have, but the chorizo was quite good, full of flavor with bits of char/caramelizing that I really like in chorizo. Taqueria Morelia does not have an Al Pastor cone, though the flavor was good and the deliciously crisp sope was hand-patted in-house from fresh masa.

Quesadillas are made from fresh masa and look quite tasty.

Rice and beans were fine, but lacked the punch/richness of lard.

Taqueria Morelia is across the street from the Admiral Theater, which should make for interesting people watching later in the evening. :)

Service was very good, coffee, water refilled etc, with one friendly, efficient waitress easily handling all 7-tables in the small restaurant.

Taqueria Morelia, along with Taqueria San Juanito and El Caporal puts our LTHForum group Taqueria group effort off to a fast start. Looking forward to additional Taqueria posts.

    Enjoy,
    Gary

Last weekend: Taqueria San Juanito. This weekend: Taqueria Morelia. Two for two!

The tacos at Morelia had a little more cilantro than I'd have liked but I enjoyed everything, especially the chorizo. The green salsa was really good too. I don't remember the spelling, but the menu had a section titled something like huechero? What is that?

There was a Mexican bakery across the street that seemed perfect for dessert. I didn't stop in cause it was raining and I had the usual craving for Fudge Pot.

Ate here today on a Sunday, fresh ingredients, had a pastor tostada, and a chorizo taco, very inexpensive, fast service, festive inside, I would highly recommend it!!
