Tried calling and there was no answer. Were they open today? I plan on being
in the area tomorrow and thought I would stop in. Do you think they're
closed on the weekends? I wouldn't find anything on the website.

I drove by this morning after a grueling 19 min. workout across the street. There was a bright neon OPEN sign shining bright, even though it was about 8:00am.

Yes--this would be THE Perry's where cellphones are verboten, as are stupid questions such as "Is this REAL mayonnaise?" Yes, that actually happened.

The lady who dared question the provenance of Perry's mayo almost got a spatula to the tuchis.

Finally got around to ordering a couple sandwiches. Had the Pastrami/CB combo with French and slaw and a roasted turkey club on white.

Let me preface this review by saying that I hate sloppy sandwiches. I believe in a proper meat:bun:cheese:sauce:veg ratio. This joint just throws all those rules out the window. I was handed two brutalized sandwiches haphazardly wrapped in plastic wrap, yup, plastic wrap. By the time I drove the 2 blocks home and opened the bag, these very large sandwiches looked more like salad balls. Salad Balls.

THe Pastrami was decent enough for a fast food type pastrami. The C.B was a little better. The roasted turkey tasted at least 2 days old and the bacon was very salty and extremely crispy and hard to consume. The bread is Garbage and cannot even begin to stand up to the mass quantities of innards, let alone the smear of French dressing. Demolished further with each bite, I had to resort using the carbonbacon as the top bun. I;m no stranger to manny-size or katz-size gigantors, but at least have decent bread to accommodate the girth.

Having never eaten at the Loop location, I have no frame of reference, but I am in the food business and have been for quite some time and sandwiches are my passion. I really wanted to believe in Perry's as the neighborhood is lacking in the sandwich joint department.

Is this quality the norm? or are they working the kinks?

What you experienced is pretty consistent with the Loop location. So-so pastrami served bread not meant to handle to obscene quantity of meat on the sandwich. And, oh yes, plastic wrap if you decide to take your sandwich back to your office.
