Cy's Crabhouse

I drive by Cy's Crabhouse all the time on Ashland Ave. and never thought about stopping in; which is strange because I love seafood. It just looks sort of like a chain, Red Lobster type place. Anyone have a review of the place? Is it anywhere near the quality of Shaw's, Joe's, Blue Water Grill, etc.

I admit it's been some time since I've passed through their doors, but I have never had a good experience at any Cy's related place-surf or turf.

Oh, nowhere even close to a Shaw's, Blue Water, etc....but used to be a notch or two above a Red Lobster....at dirt cheap prices...so not horrible when we used to live nearby...used to get a HUGE crowd on weekends, so actually had a somewhat fun, active bar scene...

Now, prices have risen outrageously....while quality stagnates at the mediocre level....and it's depressingly deserted in a huge barn-like setting....yet it somehow stays in business...so, I really would not bother...

I'll echo Stewed Coot's sentiment. The Crabhouse itself isn't a chain, but there are other Cy's restaurants around. Best thing about Cy's Crabhouse is that parking is convenient, considering the neighborhood. Food isn't terrible, but it's several notches below the others you've cited (maybe half a notch above Red Lobster on a good night).

Go for the parking, not the food.
