I had dinner at Merendero San Marcos last night and enjoyed my meal. We started with a gordita appetizer consisting of four different ones, Chicharrón in salsa verde, Chicharrón in salsa roja, queso fundido, and lomo in some sort of red marinade or sauce. My favorites by far were the chicharron which both had a nice kick from their own salsa and well seasoned. The queso fundido was also good and i believe came with rajas mixed in. The lomo I wasn't crazy about, the meat wasn't very tender, but it was well seasoned.

We both ordered a tampiquena for our entree. The enchilada was excellent, perfectly prepared. The steak was cooked to the correct doneness i requested of medium and was tender and juicy. Chile serranos on the side added a nice spiciness which caught me off guard and had me reaching for refreshment to the plate which I enjoyed.

Desert we shared a chocoflan which was the best rendition I've had of this dish. Moist chocolate cake that didn't overpower of the flan. The flan itself was the perfect consistency. It was well balanced between both flavors.
