gibson's in rosemont

I'm hosting a lunch at Gibson's in Rosemont this Sunday. Anybody out there fairly familiar with the quality of the food? Particularly some of the non-steak items, such as crab cake, chicken pot pie, oysters, salads, sandwiches, lake perch, lobster sliders. I'm thinking we won't be ordering too many hunks of red meat for lunch. Thanks.

We've eaten there about a year ago now, equally as good as the Gibson's in the viagra triangle. My wife had the crab legs which were good, and I had a giant hunk of red meat (bone in ribeye) which was good. It's a place that's reliably good for just about everything- in the original location I've tried a lot of the non red meat items and have never been overly wowed, but they've been somewhere between acceptable and good.

Gibson's Rosemont was my go to nice office lunch place for about six years when I worked in Rosemont. A couple of notables on the non-steak lunch menu:

The crab cake is a huge portion (one cake on the lunch menu was always plenty for me). It is somewhere around 99% pure crab served with a spicy remoulade. It was a long time favorite in my book.

The seared tuna salad is a generous serving of seared tuna served over a bed of salad greens with pistachios and a gingery Asian style dressing.

The appetizer crab meat and avocado salad makes for a filling lunch. Its about six ounces of snow white crab served with capers, roasted red peppers, a pepperocini with a thai style dressing over a fresh peeled avocado.

Usually, there is one lunch portion fish special on the menu- usually some sort of a tilapia with sauces or salsas made in the kitchen which can range from traditional (butter lemon) to downright wacky (raspberry mango salsa)

All of their steaks are available at lunch though it seems to me that sometimes the results of those items are not as good as they are at night. If you're there on a day in which lobster or shrimp bisque is the soup of the day, a cup of that is highly recommended.

The ribeye steak sandwich is the most flavorful steak sandwich i've ever eaten. . i should know. . i've had dozens of them at Gibson's.

The burgers were pretty hig on my list but the last timeI went there, the chef had changed from shaping a thick juicy patty to creating a thinner tighter grind patty that i didn't appreciate. I'm not sure if he's reverted back to the old method, which was dripping with beefy pleasure.

The lobster salad slider is light, but filling and offers plenty of lobster meat, based on the one occassion that i ordered it.

When I went to Gibson's Rosemont for lunch, I had the burger, which was good...but it was no match for the delicious filet sliders. It was three seasoned medallions on small buns with fries. It was for sure the most popular item in the dining room and I had serious order envy of my dining mate (who was generous enough to let me have one of the sliders). I've been craving them and meaning to go back just to have an order of them all for me.

Thanks for all the tips. Wound up with sharing the crabmeat avocado, lobster sliders and caesar salad-all quite tasty. The ribeye sandwich was very good, and filet medallions got good grades from others. Even the wacky monster turtle ice cream pie thingy was fine. Server was pleasant but had a very weak memory.
