River North group dinner recs

It looks like I'll be hosting a group of 8-10 people for dinner in a couple weeks, and we'd like to stay in the general River North area. No particular food preferences, though I'd like to keep the per-person cost in check (no more than $50 if at all possible).

My favorite for group dining in the River North is Cafe Iberico. The place is huge so they can seat 8-10 people no problem and tapas is a lot of fun with a group. Also it is very reasonably priced.

One option would be to cal the restaurant and speak to a manager (catering or otherwise) let them know what you are looking for and see if they can propose a menu for you. Be up front with your budget and ask them to meet it, most big restaurants do this regularly for business dinners or pharmaceutical companies. You would probably have a limited menu but you would know about your options before you went. This would be the best way to keep the bill under 50 per person without needing to keep an eye on other peoples ordering that night. Carnival may be a good option if not too far

Not sure if they'd be as accomodating for dinner as they were for lunch but Purple Pig was a blast with a big group--we ordered like piglets and kept it to $30/pp (no alcohol). If interested, call and ask for Katie, the group events manager.

I'll second that. The food at Cafe Iberico isn't bad at all (some of the dishes are fairly reminiscent of some we tried in Madrid, I think), the atmosphere is fun, and as turkob mentioned, they can handle large groups very easily.
