MT Carmel Baptist Church BBQ (Saturday/Summer/Sometimes)

MT Carmel Baptist Church is on my Saturday morning Evanston Farmers Market path, though typically too early to catch the BBQ. Couple of weeks ago I snapped pictures as Pastor Walter Barnes was getting started.

Not much of a crowd expected that particular Saturday so the Char Griller sufficed, they also have an off-set smoker when demand dictates.



Pastor Barnes has been at Mt Carmel 15-years and they have been doing BBQ since before he got there, possibly since the church started in the 50's. I did not get a chance to taste the BBQ, though it was a real pleasure chatting with Pastor Barnes about BBQ and beyond.

Dang! I've got the same grill and it's almost as rusty--I cleaned it up and have been keeping it in the garage between smokes & storms--yeah, I added the box to the side.
For a $100 Menard's sale item it does quite well.
I'm going to have to start going to church.
