I'm planning on office holiday party for mid-December for roughly 120 people. The office is located in Naperville and typically we hold the event relatively close by. In the past we have done Ditka's in Oakbrook and Maggiano's in Naperville. I want to try something different this year.

Any suggestions for a venue that could accommodate that size party and also serves delicious food? (Banquet style seems to work best, though it is not a requirement). We'd need a beer/wine drink package as well.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! :)

There's a branch of Great Neighborhood Restaurant winner Katy's Dumpling Housein Naperville. The Naperville branch has a larger menu than the GNR winning Westmont branch, but It's big enough, the food is good enough and gosh darn it, people like it.

I love Katy's, but 120 may either be right at their capacity or beyond it. I'd call to verify.

Another good option would be Greek Islands in Lombard. Excellent food and a large dining area.

Allow me to second the Greek Islands suggestion....the dining area is huge, and can be segmented off...and the food is wonderful......Oopa!!

I always suggest Reza's for this type of thing when the phrase "something different" is used. They have an Oak Brook location that can handle groups even bigger. Some of the less experienced eaters in a group that big might not be familiar with Middle Eastern food and equate it with Indian, but Reza's is very meat and potatoes (well, rice anyway) aside from the standard vegetarian options. Shish kababs are mostly olive oil, lemon, garlic, salt, & pepper, and pretty tasty stuff.
We cannot be friends if you do not know the difference between Mayo and Miracle Whip.

My husband's company has held their holiday party at Meson Sabika. It was a great time, great food, tasty beverages and good service and a festive atmosphere.

Reza's is a good suggestion, I have been there several times where they have had very large groups as well as their regular service going on without a bump, they are used to it. As far as food, they have great lamb selections as well as steak and chicken plus they are very vegetarian friendly. They regularly have a buffet so that could give you the option of buffet or sit down service. The staff has always been friendly and happy to explain anything on the menu. BTW, I noticed grilled potatoes on the menu but I've always been given a monster dish of couscous.

    Maybe you should look at:

    McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant
    3001 Butterfield Road
    Oak Brook, IL 60523

While I have had meals here of varied quality, by and large they are good.

I just got an email from them that has a very nice deal. If you book a holiday party, of at least 12, Sunday – Thursday at $22.95 (lunch) or $29.95 (dinner) you receive a $50 gift card. Also, everyone in the party gets a $10 gift card. You also get a $25 gift card for every $250 you spend over $500.

You could give away the gift cards in a raffle as a nice gift for people.

The email seemed to imply that one could customize the menu.

    Hi,

For your future consideration when you have such a large group to treat, it is a good idea to plan early.

As some people can attest, thinking about our next party begins practically the day after the last party. Our event for this year was settled in April-May, which will be announced in a few weeks.

When we booked, there was already a party planned for the same day. It was shifted to an earlier time slot to accomodate us. When I put down the deposit, they had received an inquiry for the very same time slot. We got what we wanted because we asked first. :D

If you want your choice, and not have to settle, begin early. BTW - A few places I have contacted for our preferred date (first Saturday in December) would never accomodate us: they have an annual customer for that time slot.

    Regards,
    Cathy2
