My son's first birthday party is in early August, so I'm starting to search for catering options. I expect roughly 80 people in attendance, and my guests would probably not appreciate fancy or gourmet catering. Food will likely be served outside. We had Smoque cater my other son's first birthday party and it was a resounding success. We had Pita Inn cater that same son's second birthday party (as examples of what has worked well for me and my guests in the past).

I'm looking for another restaurant (or caterer) whose food caters well to this type of crowd/environment. Any suggestions?

Side note: my wife is considering a circus theme, so I fantasized the idea of Wiener and Still Champion coming to prepare hand dipped corn dogs live at my house, but I don't think he would offer that type of service.

Maybe not, but you might find a corn dog cart that usually does festivals/fairs to come and do corn dogs. You could rent a cotton candy machine.

We've hired Poochie's for outdoor catering in the past and they have come through with flying colors.

Thanks for the Poochie's suggestion. I'm going to reach out to them and try to set things up.

And I'm not sure if it was a serious suggestion, but I'm intrigued by the Tamalespaceship idea. Is there any way to contact them to see if they'd make a trip out to the burbs in early August? I couldn't find contact information or an email address on their website.

    Additional suggestions are still welcome.

They don't have a listed number but you could follow them on Twitter and tweet them or send them a direct message: www.twitter.com/tamalespaceship

Despite their frightening appearance, luchadores are beloved by little children in Mexico, though honestly, these clownish charros might be a little intense for a one-year-old. They sure are festive.
