I happened upon the Hummingbird truck today on the Northwestern campus in Evanston. While I had just eaten lunch and wasn't hungry at all, I felt I had to stop, remembering David Hammond saying that Hummingbird was his favorite from the recent Food Truck summit.
Italian Fries were straight from the fryer, crisp on the outside, fresh potato on the inside, lightly dressed with garlic, fresh oregano and chili flakes. Evanston doesn't really need more great fries, and I know WSC delivers, but Hummingbird in its spot today was just five minutes from my office--too easy not to visit again.

The Panzanella Salad was quite good as well with "hand-torn" croutons, plentiful dill, cucumber and respectable grape tomatoes. At $3 for the fries and $4 for the salad, the value is quite good, especially for Evanston and Northwestern. Overall quality is also far better than the food at the nearby student center, Noyes Street Cafe and Fraîche.
