Does anyone else enjoy this less common topping on hot dogs? Are they any Chicago places that offer Giradineira as a hot dog topping? I even add it to my Gene n Judes dogs sometimes.

No but it sounds delicious and I'll be trying it this weekend.

Hot Giardineira pizza is amazing too if you've never tried it.

I defintiely enjoy giardiniera on dogs.

Any Portillos I have been to will put them on a hot dog. I really like the house giardiniera on the hot dogs from Little Joes in Countryside.

id bet any place that has giardiniera on hand will toss it on a dog if you ask.

I made hot dogs for a cookout and happened to have my jar of kimchi out-- boy, is that a great combination. Sour like sauerkraut, hot like giardinera. Wow.

So, yes I do enjoy non-traditional toppings!

Hot Doug's has always offered it.

I concur with jimswside that it seems reasonable that places who already have giardiniera around for Italian sausage/beef/combo sandwiches would add it to hot dogs on request.

yes, exactly. any hot dog stand that has giard will add it to one, I'd say. I've had that done with polishes at art's @ elston+north and the hot dog stand in the kimball+addison home depot ;)

sunnabii.. And I just came back from Portillo's. Should've read the forum earlier in the day.

Sambal, giardiniera and plum sauce are nectars of the Gods.

Back when I lived across the street I used to regularly order a thin crust from Pizano's with giardineira and sausage (made in house to my knowledge). Spectacular.

Good stuff on hot dogs too, although I'm a bigger fan on italian sausages or brats. You can pretty easily replace the sport peppers with giardineira on a chicago dog if you ask me, I think it tastes better.

We just had kimchi and the dogs-- the kimchi has enough going on, I can't envision anything else being necessary or desirable.
    Enjoy!
