Does anyone have any recommendations for Fox Lake or near Chain O Lakes State Park? I'll be heading up there on the Metra to meet my lady friend for a weekend of camping, and we'd like to do dinner in town first.

We like seasonal, fresh type fare preferably on the lighter side. Anything ethnic is great too. Nothing too fancy as we'll be dressed for camping. The only place in Fox Lake I've found a good word on is Dockers, but their online menu doesn't look appealing at all.

    Easy.
Since you'll be camping and totally casual, I'd go to Moretti's in Fox Lake. Family/casual/pizza/beer kinda' place, but medium sized and long established. Definitely recommend their thin crust pizza- you can't go wrong. They're right on Route 12 next to Watt's Marina, south end of town.

Not much in the area, but if you are in the mood for Mexican food there is a decent place with a great location, right on the chain, El Puerto.

Bring a GPS to get there the first time. I recommend the milanesa and a couple margaritas. Ask for some grilled jalapenos and onions on the side for an extra kick.

Steitz's Resort in Antioch is fun. Fish fry (including perch and blue gill), fish boil, prime rib, German food, American food, very rustic surroundings.

Thanks for the recommendations. We went with El Puerto, the Mexican place. Great location and it was quite lively there on Friday night. We both had shrimp fajitas and they were excellent, as was the fresh. homemade salsa.
