As I was driving down 35th st by Ashland, I noticed a new restaurant had popped up. This restaurant is in the former spot of Scott's Hamburger Heaven, and as i slightly understand has other incarnations with slightly different names on the south side and possibly on the north side, but I'm not sure of any. I believe these used to be popular 24hour diners for truckers, but now are waning in popularity.

I saw the signs for tortillas hecho a mano so i figured I would give it a try. I stopped in for a late snack around 9pm for two tacos, one chicken and one steak. They gave me some chips and salsa which were fried in house. They had good flavor and not to greasy, but would have been better if they were warm instead of room temperature. Standard green and red sauce, both respectable versions with a small kick but i would have preferred just a little spicier. The tortillas were clearly hand made and was happy to see they offer the handmade tortillas with the standard tacos. The steak was tender and flavorful. The chicken was a mix of dark and white meat which was juicy with good flavor. Also ordered a side of their grilled cebollitas which was a respectable version. Washed down with an aqua de jamaica, a good meal at a reasonable price.

They also had signs for pollos al carbon (grilled whole chicken) which i would like to try in the future for sure. A welcome addition to the neighborhood!
