Beach & Dinner Sunday

I've been tasked with choosing a spot on the big drink today. Late afternoon, for a few hours before dinner. Looking for a nearby spot afterwards for an interesting, very casual, (3 yr old in tow,) spot for dinner. Prolly 6ish. Doesn't matter where at all. We'll be driving. Chinese food last night, would like something different. At the moment, I'm also a little BBQ'd out. What beach would you choose, and where would you go? My first thought was going up to Thorndale (is there a little beach up there?) and then trying to hit up Dona Chio for the first time. Indian, Mexican, Middle Eastern would be my preference for tonight, I guess, but anything interesting is always a go. I'm not really a Chicago beach goer, so I don't know the spots. Sure, I can go anywhere at all, but just looking for a 1-2 combo nearby each other where I can try something really good, and have a reason for choosing beach "x."

Kathy Osterman Beach, (or, Hollywood Beach) + Argyle Vietnamese (or Sunwah) is also looking like a good "do."

You'd be very happy at Nha Hang Vietnam after the beach, if that's the case.

Bop N Grill for Korean Burgers and Bowls (they've added some new dishes I believe) and then hiit sweet and mellow Hartigan Beach at Albion up in Rogers Park.

Another option is dinner at the Parrot Cage at South Shore Cultural Center and then enjoying the beach there. We went last week and practically had the beach to ourselves.

Excellent suggestion. I'm at south shore cultural center right now. GEM. OUTSTANDING. Never been before. We'll take a look at Parrot Cage, but having a blast here. AWESOME BEACH.

Leave it to me to be looking for Middle Eastern food in Bridgeview on Ramadan. Nile, Bhawadi, and then we trekked down to the joint in Worth - all closed, or waiting until 8:15 to open the buffet. Wound up at Sultan's Palace. They had an Indian / Medditerranean Buffet going on. We pigged out on fair to middlin fare. As we slowed down after a few plates, the restaurant filled in quite a hurry. Family upon family poured in, and were seated, yet none were eating. They were all waiting for 8:15, which is some kind of feast breaking time. Ever been the only jerk in an ethnic joint stuffing yer face full of buffet while EVERYONE else is waiting 15 minutes to break their Ramadan fast? Awwwwwkwarrrrrrd....for some. I'm sitting there with baba ghannouj smeared on my face while gnawing the gristle off of some bone in lamb vindaloo while people were looking at me - some quite sternly, too.
