Aurora cheap eats

I'll be in Aurora for a gallery opening tomorrow night, and I'll need to get something to eat. My only requirement is nothing "spicy". My GF loves all things bland. I'm looking for cheap eats.... pizza, ethnic, sandwiches. I did a search of the boards and came up with several mexican spots.... La Quebrada, Taqueria Los Cabritos, El Pollo Giro. The posts are kinda old, so I don't know who is in business. Any advice? Other recs?

oh, and cocina barro came up too.

PS... where can I get good bread in that area? I live in Lafayette, Indiana, and I absolutely cannot find decent bread in town. I'd like to pack my freezer with some good loaves.

Here are a couple of ideas. I had a solid lunch the other day at Wit's End in downtown Aurora. It's on New York Street just west of the river and casino.

Ach N Lou's has a claim on being the home-town pizza favorite. It's at 1592 North Farnsworth Avenue on the west side of the street in a little strip mall. Good thin crust pizza.

Also, Walter Payton's Roundhouse is on Broadway connected to the train station. Great atmosphere, good food -- but not cheap!

Where is this gallery opening? Is it the one tonight at Aurora University? Location will help. Walter Payton's Roundhouse is my favorite in Aurora but as said above, not cheap. Great atmosphere and always fun to see the Walter Payton Museum.

Yep, its the one at Aurora University.

We're going to that exhibit on Saturday! Looks like a good one! One Prairie Stree, which is a few blocks south of AU is Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center. Big warehouse building with fun stuff going on inside but very good pizza. On West Galena is Baneks, a small place in a strip mall near the Aldi's, excellant burgers amongst other things. A little further on that street is Tiawanna's. Ok, crazy name and stupid logo but pretty good Mexican. It's surpisingly housed inside a Browns Chicken! It's in the back of the parking lot by Wal-Mart. Very fresh, well made food, they have an open kitchen and is not in anyway related to Brown's other than same building and owner. Each of these places are within a few minutes of AU. My partner works for AU and these are places we sometimes hit for lunch.

Liked this spot, grab a cafeteria style tray and a set of tongs and pick the cookies, doughnuts, etc that you like. inexpensive & good. Favorite was a sugar rasied doughnut with a rich cream filling. Fresh made bollilo is also nice.

Old post with some changes. Walter Payton's Roundhouse is now Two Brother's Roundhouse and Banek's is now Hounds Blue Moon. I haven't been to either since they changed hands.
