Stopped by this relatively new spot for lunch today. Completely empty at 1130, never a good sign, but half a dozen tables we occupied by 1230. Pleasant room, slightly industrial but with nice wood tables and accents. They also have a few tables outside on the walk in front, in Gartner Plaza. Not sure I exactly see the point in a parking lot mall, but they are there.
The Ba La Lot, banana leaf sausages were quite tasty. Pho Saigon - beef and sausage - was a middling version. Slightly murky broth, both in aspect and flavor, not clean beef and her flavors. Noodles were not quite cooked when it arrived, in a big lump, but a little time resolved that. Not worth reordering for me.
My companion went French, taking the chicken confit, which the server took pains to explain was cooked in its own fat (good to know it was what it promised to be). It was served in a salad, and while I did not get a taste, he seemed quite happy, and the whole plate looked very good, much better than my pho. Lunch came with a small, complimentary, white chocolate mousse. Nothing special, but tasty.
Two hits, one miss, and the menu is an interesting mix of French and Vietnamese. Add in the nice room and good price point, and I will be back.
There are a couple of web sites, but none of them seem to be a lot more than placeholders, and the one with a menu, well the menu does not look much like what we were given. The actual menu is a lot more interesting.
