I went back to Mykha's after an absence of 4-5 years. I used to go fairly regularly, but stopped because the food began to bore me - how many savory stir fries, redolent of onions, garlic, and lemon grass can one eat? (Actually hit a similar wall at Meson Sabika in N'ville around the same time).
I still think Mykha does a good job in the kitchen - quality ingredients, good technique, even if I find her flavor range a little narrow - and my guests (we had a large party, multi-generation, maybe 10-12 people) all seemed quite happy, too. Sort of a slightly fancied-up version of pan-Asian stir fry with an emphasis on Vietnamese flavors. Having said that, I have never been a big fan of pan or fusion anything cuisine - usually it is someone who does not understand or do well any of the "source" cuisines trying to mix them up and improve them with disappointing, if predictable, results.
In that sense, Mykha's is much better than most for me - I find her food tasty. But the Vietnamese places up on Batavia Road and in Glendale Heights provide more variety, better quality and at a lower price point.
