Although I am a Vegetarian and cannot fully appreciate the offerings from the 2 new restaurants opened in Pilsen, I thought the Board would like the info.

Salvadoran Pupuseria (along with some Salvadoran platillos featuring Carne, Pollo and Mariscos) at 1700 Block of W. 18th Street. I had their vegetarian Pupusas and a Corn Tamale. The pupusas were slightly better than the ones I had from Maxwell St. Plus they have a Vegetable filling pupusa. :-) The Corn Tamale was sweet. Maybe that was from using sweet corn or added sugar, I don't know. But that is something I won't be getting again.

There is an Argentinian restaurant opened on the 1400 block of W. !8th called "Chimichurri". It says Steak and Pizza on the sign. So I don't know how 'authentic' this will turn out. It does say "Argentinian Cuiusine" on the entrance.

Add to this the new "tamale" place on 900 Block of W 18th (that is being touted as a Hot Doug's of tamales) and a new sweet baked goods place on 1800 block of S. Halsted the offerings have started to reflect the changing demographic.

Sounds authentic enough. Steak and pizza pretty much sums up Argentine food.

That plus sweetbreads, empenadas and those crazy-looking ice cream cones.
