    Hi,

Driving from Minneapolis on Friday, spending the night in Crystal Lake, and heading to Three Floyds in Hammond on Saturday. I am hoping to get some suggestions for a great breakfast spot between Crystal Lake and Hammond. The route appears to be 14 to 290 to 294 to 80, so anywhere along that way would be great. Criteria - Deliciousness, and opened before 10am on Saturday. Any cuisine is fine - Mexican, Chinese, Uyghur, you name it.

    TIA
    Liz

How about Chuck's southern Comfort Cafe? It is a couple of miles off of 294 at 79th street in Burbank (you can get back on at 95th and Harlem, a couple of miles south). I have not eaten breakfast there, but the meals that I have eaten there have been delicious and very satisfying. Since they specialize in country comfort food, I imagine that breakfast would be a meal at which Chuck's excels. I have often perused the huge breakfast menu, and wished that someday I would find myself in that neighborhood at breakfast time. The breakfast menu is extensive and full of interesting options. Maybe somebody who has actually had a breakfast at Chuck's can supply a qualified opinion.

edit: Chuck's has a special Beignet breakfast on the 3rd Saturday of each month, which coincidentally is next Saturday.

Chuck's would be a great choice. I've had several delicious breakfasts at the Burbank location. I particularly enjoy their Mexican-themed egg dishes (chilaquiles, huevos a la frontera, machacado) but they do justice to pretty much everything on the breakfast menu.

    Have a great trip.

Since you are headed to FFF, you might also be interested in Chuck's Beer Menu.
