I thought I would post this as a courtesy...have not decided if my very small family will eat out or in this year. Please add to the list if you have any suggestions.

Most non-Christian ethnic restaurants are open. I often celebrate by eating a Pakistani or Indian meal on Devon. Chicken Charga and Nihari at Sabri Nihari hits the spot. In another thread it was pointed out that NY bagels and Bialys is also open for freshly baked Xmas morning bagels.

Interesting that you mention this. A few years back, I was  shocked  to learn that Khan BBQ was closed on Christmas day. I'm not sure if that's still the case (this year). A lot of places in Chinatown are open on Christmas day.

Furama on Broadway near Argyle is the traditional Christmas meal for me and many of my friends. We've been going there for Dim Sum for years!

If we don't eat with friends we are suckers for Chinatown and a movie.

After finding Khan closed one year, I ended up at Sabri Nihari. The Chicken Charga was such a suitably festive meal for the holiday, I keep going back.

good ideas. Most of these mentioned are in the city. We are doing a simple Christmas this year. We have decided to go to dinner at Glen Prairie in Glen Ellyn. I made reservations through open table.
