Marie's. Go have a pizza and an order of spumoni for desert.

For all their ups and downs (including those embarrasing TV ads), Va Pensiero has always had very good spumoni. They serve it in three small scoops, each a different flavor, and dust it with pistachios and dried cherries. Fabulous.

I'm not sure how open VaP is to droppers-in for dessert, but there's only one way to find out.

Had an amazingly creamy spumoni, served as sort of a pie-shaped
slice at Club Lago last month. It was really a stand out. I didn't ask
whether made in house or not, but I think I'll have to go back for more
    very soon.

Hell, if they can make good pastiera (which they do), I'd be more than happy to try their spumoni.

A friend told me he had some great, locally-made spumoni recently but could not remember where it was from. I figured I'd use the occasion to resuscitate this thread and see if anyone has any current leads for locally-made spumonis they enjoy.

    Thanks,

Although it's not locally made, Forno Rosso imports spumoni from a specialty spumoni maker in Italy twice a week along with their cheese. I understand it's very good, but I have not yet tried it.

I'd love to find where it's from too then if it's local. Spumoni is my favorite ice cream . . . I recall the one at Spacca Napoli being great . . . pretty sure it's Lezza. And now I'm excited to try the one from Forno Rosso.

Fellow Spumoni devotee here. I'd bet with extreme confidence 90% of Spumoni in Chicago comes from Victor Lezza & Sons. There was one instant at a place that will remain unnamed where they claimed the superior product delivered from St. Charles Road and Manheim as their own. I chose not to argue.
