Just had lunch at pizzeria del Mercato in west loop at Fulton and Racine. Wow. What a crust this guy has. Although not as charred as I typically prefer, it was absolutely delicious, crisp and chewy.

This place opened a month or so ago and we were the only diners in the hour we spent there aside from a takeout order. It is byob, warm and I can foresee spending many cold winter days sitting and looking out the plentiful windows here. We had the prosciutto, with arugula, basil and house made whole milk mozzarella (fior di latte) with a tomato sauce base that was acidic vs sweet. A bit more sauce than I'm used to, but it was great so I didn't mind. They also brought over some hot oil and my wife, who rarely eats crust by itself, sopped that oil up with abandon.

Service was friendly but you can tell they want more traffic.

    Will post pics soon.

This place has been heating up, likely as a result of some recent press. Stopped by for an early dinner and had a great burrata with olive tapenade and sausage pizza with extra hot oil. I still love this place.
