I love jerk chicken. I just don't really care for jerk swimming in a stew. A friend of mine said he saw a piece on Hungry Hound about a place in the south loop called Jamaica Jerk Villa. Seeing as today is so hot, I decided to give this place a try. Am I glad!! The chicken was fantastic. It was dry rubbed and grilled over wood . It has a spicy smoky flavor. It was moist and just awesome. The sauce on the side was intoxicating. It started sweet and then the heat exploded in my mouth.

How come there's no love for the new(er) Chinatown branch? 2 dark pieces + 2 sides = $6 lunch plate special. Spicy rub, smoky, sorta-moist jerk chicken, and a decent hot sauce on the side. I haven't had Uncle Joe's in a few years, but JJV tasted better than the UJ's (S. King) of my memory.

Granted, the wait borders insanity, but Tropic Island isn't exactly quick on its feet either...
