I think this place has been mentioned in other threads but doesn't have one of its own. I stopped in at Frankie's Deli in Lombard the other day, having been very curious after seeing a sign in the front stating that they had been in business for 50 years.

I think I may have tasted why.

I bought two homemade soups -- chicken noodle and escarole and bean. They were both really good. The chicken noodle had nice chunks of chicken, celery, and carrots, plus what appear to be flat egg noodles. The broth was silky and didn't have an overabundance of "chicken stock" flavor--- in a good way. The escarole and bean was equally delicious. I also like that they have a full deli counter, so I was able to pick up some sliced turkey for sandwiches. The place is a nice size, neat and clean, and full of a selection of Italian grocery items plus homemade frozen foods in a freezer case in the back. I look forward to stopping in again soon and trying some other items.
