I didn't ask but it was lovely looking. My friend ate it all.

This makes me very, very sad.

That's so sad! We definitely didn't eat there enough. I'm so happy I got to eat there recently with pairs4life and Pie Lady. Did anyone know that they were going to close or was it a surprise?

I got in around 4 and was still able to order the Blast, the meatloaf sandwich, and the shredded pork. All very good. I really enjoyed the sweet sauce on the meatloaf, as well as the coleslaw on the pork. The mac and cheese side was kind of bland, but the coleslaw and pasta salad were tasty. Also ordered a nutella and vanilla shake which were good. I can see why this place is so popular. It has a great atmosphere and the owners and staff are really nice. I was told that the new owners will retain some of most popular menu items.

What sad news. I wonder if they're just moving on, or if it's a matter of location, location, location.

Based on the article linked above, it appears that Adam and Malaika are just moving on to other things.

The Lebins decided to close The Brown Sack in June to “reinvent” themselves and devote more time to new pursuits. After 14 years living in Logan Square, the couple will head to Evanston after the Brown Sack’s last days.

Given that they apparently were involved in the transition to new owners who will be serving some of the Brown Sack items, wouldn't seem to be a location issue.

The folks at Brown Sack have a new place in Evanston opening shortly - Heavenston Eatery. The scheduled opening day is March 31. I was under the impression that the second location of Curt's Cafe was opening at this same address, so I'll swing by later and take a look (I live a block and a half away).
