I searched, but didn't find a topic for this place. I did see some mentions in general topics for Lincolnshire.

I've always wanted to go there. So last week I hosted a dinner for 7 to celebrate two birthdays. When I made the reservation I was surprised how rude they were. I made the reservation in person, so I got to catch her facial expressions. I would have canceled, but one of guest was looking forward to this place.

My group is never going to criticize a restaurant in front of their host (me). So I don't know what they thought. As for me I was underwhelmed. I started with a cup of minestrone, that was not very good. I found it to be watery and lacking spice to it. I do like a good amount of garlic in my minestrone, so maybe it was more me.

My entree was chicken saltimbocca. I've always liked this and haven't had it for awhile. I just didn't care for it. To me it tasted like something institutionally made. Halfway through (well maybe closer to 25%) the waitress finally brought me my side of pasta. I thought the sauce on the pasta was way too sweet. They took a long time to refill our drinks too.

I've mentioned this before about my love for homemade pasta. So I don't understand why given their prices and their attempt to be considered upscale Italian, Philly does not use homemade. I thought I saw on the menu that they use only imported pasta. It didn't say where, so I guess it could have been Mexico. It probably was Italy. I'm not very smart on this subject. But would pasta made in Italy and shipped here be better than getting it from a quality local Chicago company?

Lastly even though I had mentioned the birthdays when I made the reservations, I was surprised no treat for them.

Maybe I'm being too negative or just caught them on an off night, so if anyone has had a different experience, please comment.
