I just learned I will be traveling to Santiago, Chile for business and wanted to get acclimated immediately to its food styles/cuisine in Chicago before I depart. I know El Nandu quite well, which is sometimes thought of as Chilean/Argentine, though it has always seemed to me to be much more the latter. Any other thoughts, recommendations?

Definitely check out the Latin Sandwich Cafe on Elston. They have a broad pan-Latin menu, but I believe the owners are Chilean and they do hilight some distinct Chilean dishes. I'm sure if you talked to them about your trip and your interest, they might even make something off-menu. It's a nice little spot.

Personally, I'd also drink my way through Sam's selection of Chilean wines.
