Didn't realize they had a liquor license--that makes sense now. If you want to bring in something old and special for a celebration they'll accommodate. but they don't want you bringing in things similar to what they sell since they'd be losing money that way.

This place is just a mile or 2 from my house but I've never been because I've never heard anything particularly good about it. Not sure there's a lot in this thread that would persuade me otherwise.

I really enjoyed our meal there this past summer. I have been thinking about pulling the trigger on a Groupon they've been running to make it easier on my (or Mr. X's) wallet. Given that a good portion of this thread is a debate of having a menu item to buy the kitchen a six-pack, I'm not sure how you can decide about the food. ;-)

Most of the comments on here, other than yours, seem to be middling to meh--and that mirrors what I've heard around the neighborhood. The fact that so few folks have written about it at all says about the same. With so many great places that I hardly get to often enough, it just doesn't seem worth the effort. But I'll keep an eye out for your future posts :)

I've been a few times and find it to be a solid neighborhood joint . . . just not a place I'd travel long distances to visit.

That was my take as well; went once and enjoyed it but have not been back. If I lived within walking distance though I'd definitely dine there periodically.

This is sad to hear, though I'm not shocked. My wife and I were just discussing how we hadn't been there recently, and when we go for that type of food in the neighborhood, we now generally go to Gather. Still, I will miss them.
