Mrs Willie and I had dinner last night with my parents, they wanted to go local so we dined at Gusto Wilmette.
Nice looking place, complimentary valet parking.
Starters:
Calamari Grigliati - grilled calamari w/arugula, vegetables, lemon, balsamic glaze
Calamari was cooked perfectly with lots of flavor.
Mussels w/garlic & oil. Again, cooked perfectly, lots of flavor.
Grilled lamb chops (3) w/pesto & balsamic - cooked to a medium (requested MR) and just did not have a lot of flavor. The small side salad, along with the pesto & balsamic was quite tasty.
Mains:
Italian Pot Roast - I should have clarified what type of meat was used. The meal looked and mostly tasted like a frozen precooked dinner one would buy from the grocery store. Not a good choice.
Veal Piccata - tender and oh so tasty veal, just delicious. Could have used a splash of acid somehow but that is some nitpicking.
Scallops w/pasta and porcini mushrooms. This was from the specials for the day menu. A fantastic dish, everything done perfect. It was probably a good thing Mrs Willie wasn't seated next to me as I would have tried to sneak more than a few bites.
There was a period of time between the starters and taking our order for the mains. In fairness it was a busy Friday night but we were forgotten for awhile. Other than that, service was good.

I did absolutely nothing and it was everything I thought it could be.
