Don't think this place has popped up on the board yet, but I think [based on one whole meal] that it's worth some attention, give the lack of tasty Mexican/Central American food in the Morton Grove/Glenview area.
Riobamba is an Ecuadorian place in a strip mall on Waukegan Rd*. It's tucked into a back corner and you literally cannot see it from the street. I had a taco and yucca fries there and came away pretty happy. The taco was their home made chorizo topped with cilantro & onion. The chorizo was a little bland, but the meat was not greasy and the quality was good. The yucca fries [served with a chimichurri aioli] were perfection: light, crunchy on the outside and starchy/tender on the inside. The fountain sodas weren't the usual Pepsi/Coke items, instead it was Izzy sodas and some other 'artisanal' brand that I don't remember.
Despite the obscurity of the location, the place was packed for a Saturday lunch. One of the owners said that they're doing very good business on word of mouth.
This might make a nice spot for the North lunch group. Prices are a tad high, but, well, the neighborhood can afford it, I guess.
